Dear Parents/Carers,
Re: Partnership with Families – teaching your child to read
Learning to read is the most important thing your child will learn at our school. Everything else depends on it, so we do all we can to make sure every child learns to read quickly.
We want your child to love reading – and to want to read for themselves.
With that in mind, we would like to invite you to a meeting to share how we teach children to read, and learn how you can help at home.
This will be held on Tuesday 3rd Feb at 2.45 – 3.15pm in the Infant Hall. Please enter via Orange Gate, a member of staff will let you in.
The details of the meeting are below:
- An Introduction to Read Write Inc. Phonics
An overview of how we teach children to read.
- Listening to your child read
How to listen to your child read their Read Write Inc. Phonics decodable storybook when they bring it home.
- Reading for Pleasure – Reading stories to your child
How to read stories to your child at home and the importance of this long term.
You are warmly invited to attend. In the meantime, please visit https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/parents/ for more information and helpful videos.
Kind regards,
Mrs Nguyen, Miss Hutchinson and Mrs Womersley
